Pullen Park

While in North Carolina, we went to a beautiful park that not only had a playground, but also had a train, carousel and a small lake for a pedal boat.  The playground was fun because they had a big net to climb up.  Eli climbed as high as he could, and when we asked him how he was going to get down, his face went from pride to panic.  Fortunately, Daddy came to save the day. Needless to say, he didn't go up again. 

The Beach

As soon as we found out that we were going to spend a weekend at the beach, Riley was thrilled.  It was all she talked about for a week and she wanted to invite everyone to come with her.  When it came time to actually be there, she wouldn't go near it.  Eli, on the other hand loved the beach, especially with the rocks and water and shells and sea foam and... what's not to love?

Needless to say, he was a little wet and sandy when we got back to the hotel.

Katie and Riley

Riley and Katie are kindred spirits because they have the same birthday.  When we told Riley, she went right up to her and said "Happy Birthday!"  After that, she followed her all over the house giving her flowers and showing her all the cute anecdotes because Katie hasn't seen or heard them.  Katie loved them and Riley.  They enjoyed each other immensely.
For example, here Katie and Riley are jumping on plastic bubbles. Katie commented, "Little did Riley know that I would have popped the bubbles even if Riley wasn't here." Good thing Riley was there because they had a great time together.

My Little Hero

Another thing at the Marble Museum was a bunch of pretend costumes and vehicles. Here, Eli is saving a baby and when he was done, he made Nae-Nae hold them. (Seen Above)  Riley is sitting in a car just her size and a boat, happy as a lark.

Tool Time

They had a section at the Marble Museum that had real tools and wood that they could saw, sand, nail, or screw into.  Fortunately, they didn't have power tools, but they did have a crank screw driver.  With Daddy's help, Eli was able to saw some wood and sand it.

Difference Between Boys and Girls

Our family had the opportunity to go to North Carolina and visit my aunt Nae-Nae (Gena) and her children Reed (and Brooke) and Katie.  While there, we took Nae-Nae and visited a children's museum called Marbles. They had all sorts of fun stuff there in which the next few posts will detail.  While Eli was playing Hockey on the non-ice floor, Riley was wearing a Tu-tu and ballet slippers dancing to different music genres.  She was a little small for the Tu-tus and she had to hold on to them to keep it from falling off.
