Eli and Grandpa had fun mowing the lawn together. I don't know who had more fun... Eli or Grandpa. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

First Word

Eli is starting to mimic sounds he hears, like Grandma’s sneezing and certain words.  Eli has a blanket that has whimsical Noah’s arc animals on it and Daddy is always pointing to it and asking “What’s this?”  After awhile, Eli started to mimic the word “This.”  It sounds like “hiss.”  I guess you could say that is his first word.

He also mimic’s body sound’s like farting.  He sticks out his toungue and blows.  Afterwards he laughs and looks around for other’s to laugh also.  He is only 9 months and already he has a boy’s sense of humor.

Christmas Early?

OK, so I was thinking of using some of these pictures for a Christmas card this year, but there is too much of a summer background.  Oh well, the subject is sure cute!

Eating Fruit

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
During the summer months, Eli and I would sit on the lawn and eat fruit. I would feed him small pieces before he would snatch it from my hands. Even though he only had four teeth, he still managed to get a few bites.

Daddy's Helper

Eli wanted to help Daddy change the oil in the care.  As you can see, he was a big help.

Kitty

As long a I can remember, Grandma Koyle has had kitties at her house.  We always have to be careful with kids and pets and that is why Daddy is in the picture.  One time, my niece held was over for a graduation party and she held one of her cats by the neck.

Update: One time, Riley, ran through the house, holding a kitty by the neck and swinging it back and forth. I think she was two. We did teach her not to do that.

Update 2: During the summer of 2013, Eli would love to play with the kitties.  One time, a kitty scratched Eli and he put the kitty's nose in the corner to punish him. We did teach him not to do that.

Remember to Wear Your Hair Nets!

While I worked at Dunford Bakers, I used this picture and made a poster to remind the employees to wear their hairnets.  If they did or didn't, the poster at least made them smile.  It was hard to get him to keep it on, but fortunately, I snapped it in time just as he was trying to pull it off as seen in the picture below.

Eli and His Adoring Fans!

If you look at these pictures, I sometimes feel like they would say to me. "Eli and His Adoring Fans."

Eli and His Cousins

Corwin has been staying with Grandma and Grandpa and Eli is so excited. The first time he saw him, he crawled up to him and grabbed his eye. Corwin's expression was "Why would someone do that to me?" After I apologized, John sarcastically told me it was a matter of bad parenting. The second time Eli saw him, he went right up to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead and cheek. Corwin did not appreciate that either, and he cried.
After a few days, Corwin warmed up. Eli was still very affectionate and tried to kiss him and invade his personal space. Corwin put his hand in his face and shoved him away.
Eli is crawling and Corwin is fascinated with his moving. He watches him very intently and toward the end of his trip, he has started to learn how.
It is amazing at how different the babies are. Their coloring, temperaments and weights are so opposite. Sherstin and I decided that if you take a regular baby and squish him down, you have Eli. If you stretch him out, you have Corwin. When standing, Eli goes up to Corwins ear.
Eli always puts everything in his mouth (including the marbles in the toy Marble Works) and Corwin fingers the object first. Eli doesn't care for baby food and Corwin loves it. I think it's great that they're so different in temperament because they might get along later on.
Eli also gets along with Joe. They are so fascinated with each other and usually go for each other’s eyes. When Eli was 5 months old, we put Eli in front of Joe and he grabbed his hand and put it in his mouth. They also smile at each other and last time they met, Eli kissed Joe’s head.

Crawling Critter

Eli is growing so fast. He is only seven months and he has been crawling since the forth of July. We are not baby proofed and it shows; he is into everything and bonking his poor little head on everything else. He is starting to climb on things like couches and he uses them to hold himself up. When he grabs something he still thinks he is holding onto the couch and falls straight back. He hasn't learn to bend his knees and plop yet.

Awkward!

When Eli wants to feed, he points to my chest and says "Nurse."  I know, it's time to ween, but we are working on it.  While Rachelle was holding him and he pointed to her and said "Nurse." Needless to say, she was mortified and we were a little red in the face.

Thumb Sucker

I have never seen Eli suck him thumb before. I actually got in on camera and so I thought that it was worth blogging.

Hats Off to Eli!

What is the point of having a baby, when you can't dress him up? I love putting hats on them until they get old enough to reach up and take them off.

Jeron is on a Mission

Uncle Jeron is on a Mission and we want Eli to know the picture above the chart, however, I think he just loves the colors on the chart and the feel of the stickers.

It's My Party!

It is my birthday and I think that Eli's favorite part was playing in my wrapping paper.  I am suprised Daddy could sleep through it with Eli's wiggles and the loud wrapping paper.
My favorite part was Eli.  He is so close to crawling.  Right now he plants himself on his knees and rocks back and forth.

Grandpa and Eli

Eli loves his Grandpa. They are very close and every summer, they go outside and work in the yard. Well, Grandpa works, Eli mainly entertains Grandpa.
Eli is holding a blue peanutbutter lid.  We call it "The Blue Circle."  We usually take it to church and give to him to teach him shapes/colors.  Another toy is a blue laddle.  We don't know why he finds these toys entertaining, but, they are cheap, quiet and he likes it.

Comforting Taylor

This picture has Taylor, my cousin's kid, at one month and Eli at ten days old. It is the only one I have right now. My cousin's wife, Michelle and Taylor, came over to make Pecan logs. Taylor just had her 6 month shots and was crying. Eli was concerned and was looking at her. I brought him close to her and he lifted his arms up as if to give her a hug and comfort her. I thought it was so sweet.

Update on Eli

I have been home for a week now. It has been wonderful. I have been able to keep my house clean and I have been able to take care of my husband. He needs it; he just doesn't think like a mommy. Eli is so easy to make smile. Lately at night, he hasn't wanted to go to bed and I'll feed him and put him down while he is asleep. In only a moment’s time, he will be up again, just cooing. I'll poke my head in and when he sees me, he will kick and smile. Jared and I try not to laugh. I'm sure that's the first of many.
Before Eli began crawling, he learned to roll over like most babies do and like most babies, He would do it during a diaper change. However, while on his tummy, he would try to get away, but since he didn’t know how to crawl, he would just flail his arms and legs out and make a deep chested giggle. It was funny because he thought he was getting away, but the joke was on him because he couldn’t crawl yet.

Cabbage-Patch Face

I saw Eli make this face and I thought he looked like a cabbage patch kid. Little did I know at the time, that it is means he had a tooth coming in. He got his first one a few days later.

Preparing for Food

It is so much easier to prepare dinner while Eli is at my level, not getting into everything and not needed to be held.  This is a perfect arrangement, for a few mintues at least.

Hello Ladies!

If I could make up dialogue for Eli down below, what would I say?
How about: Hello Ladies!
My name is Eli!
